Scottish National Team: First Training Session at Stirling University



September 13th marked the beginning of a new era for Scottish Taekwondo with the first full National Team training session of at our new Stirling University base. At this session each player, having demonstrated continuous development and skill, was officially welcomed into the National Team 


 




 


Set in the shadow of Stirling Castle and the Wallace monument, the new training  facility befits the professional efforts of both athletes and coaches alike.
With support pending from SportScotland ,the athletes identified will have an excellent opportunity to develop with professional support services in partnership with their existing club structure.  It’s a great time to be involved in Taekwondo in Scotland and we hope to see many more athletes pushing for a place with successful performances at national and international competition

Only those athletes selected by the Scottish National Team coaches will be invited to attend the full NT training. Selection is based on performance at British National Championships, British International Open and international competition performance. The final NT selection criteria is supervised by the Great Britain Performance Director Gary Hall as the Scottish National team is a development conduit for the GB Olympic Taekwondo Team.



Children’s, Cadets and aspiring player development days are planned for 2010 with dates and venues to TBC. Attendance at these events is open to all ages and levels. The purpose of these events is to give sound technical and tactical advice to both players and coaches as an aid to the development of the next generation of Scottish Athletes.
