Scottish Team at Norwegian Training Camp

Scottish Athletes Dale Rhodie (-80) Laura Sweeney (-49) and Lesley Jakubiak (-46) joined Scotland National Team coach John Cullen at a one-week Easter training camp with the National Teams of Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and guest National Team players from Sweden and Guatemala.
The camp, expertly organised and administered by Stig Krammer the Norwegian Olympic Coach, was an ideal development opportunity for the smaller taekwondo nations. World class coaching from Stig and a professional training setup allowed each player to get the very best from this sparring camp.
Light “play” sparring without body protectors was theme for the week affording skill development and reduced tension. The full sparring days allowed each player to work with some world class opponents, to go beyond their comfort zones and experiment with new training partners.
Core conditioning workouts specifically designed for Taekwondo players were offered by world bronze medalist Monha Solheim and the female team certainly benefited greatly from this interesting (and tiring!) session.. Our sincere thanks go to Stig and the whole Norwegian team for making us so welcome and allowing us the chance to share ideas and make future plans. We intend to host a similar camp later in the year to foster greater relations between ourselves, Norway, Denmark and Switzerland.
Talent development days for aspiring Scottish female and male athletes – of all ages and grades - will be announced shortly.
Full details to follow. Best of luck in your training!
