League Rules

Due to the growth of Taekwondo Scotland Limited
(TKDSL), 2012 will see the return of the hugely successful TKDSL Competition League first introduced
in 2009. This saw the inclusion of 4 domestioc tournaments and also
took into account international performances. The league was won by Ross Eden of Central
Taekwondo Academy (now of Peak Performance). Following the introduction of the
Competition League, Scotland saw a record medal haul at the 2010 British Championships with Scottish
fighters brining back a record 24 medals, up from 14 in 2008.
In order to support the league, TKDSL are delighted to announce that there will be a series of 6 domestic competitions throughout the year. Details of these events can be found below. The league will start from the first event of 2012 and run until the final event of the year. In addition for the first time in Scotland we will also be running a Poomsae competition development league. Each of the Scottish events for the first time will have poomsae divisions which we hope will increase the opportunities for our members and increase participation at these events.
Eligibility
All Scottish clubs and players will automatically be entered into the competition development league unless they wish to be excluded. The league is also open to any other teams from any other country provided they make it known that they wish to be included. If you have any questions regarding this please contact admin@tkdscotland.com
Points System
There will be two separate leagues for Poomsae and Kyorugi. There will also be an overall league which combines both disciplines.
The details of what points are available for each event are detailed by clicking on the points tab above.
Where a player receives a medal without winning any matches they will not receive any points in the league, only medals "won" will be counted in the league table.
1 additional point will be awarded for every match won at any event.
For Poomsae the same points system will apply, however no extra points for matches won will be available.
At the end of 2012, the player with the most point in each league will receive an award. More details of this will be made available later in the season.
In the event of two players finishing on even points at the end of the league season, the winner of the Kyorugi league will be determined by the player who scored the most points (in matches) throughout the year. If this is also even it will then go to points difference between points scored and points conceded.
For poomsae in the event of a tie for first place in the League, the winner will be decided by the overall combined scores of all poomsae performed in all events in the final rounds only.
Team Trophies
For each event there will not be the traditional team trophy. In an attempt to give smaller teams a chance at winning a team trophy, each event will have a selection team trophy. For this each team will select 5 players from their team and only the points won by these 5 players (using standard WTF team scoring rules) will count toward the team trophy for that event. For the Scottish Open in November there will be both a selection trophy and an overall team trophy.
Throughout the year and all 6 events, there will be a traditional team trophy event running. But rather than this just being at 1 event this will be a team trophy taking account of all points (WTF standard team scoring rules) won by all players in all teams at all 6 events. The winners of this will be announced along with the individual league winners following the Scottish Open
